Fact Sheet

To provide much needed temporary ventilator support for patients in respiratory failure until an ICU ventilator is available.

Continuous Mandatory Ventilation, Volume Control.

  1. Patients with mild to moderate compromise of lung compliance (e.g. early in COVID course, closer to recovery).
  2. Other patients who would have otherwise been unable to receive ventilator support.
  3. Patients immediately post emergent surgery who will do well with basic ventilator support.

Yes.

  1. Patients will need to be sedated and preferably paralyzed to prevent coughing / bucking against the device.
  2. Re-breathing in the inspiratory limb over the course of time may cause Co2 build up. This will require intermittent flushing of the inspiratory limb with oxygen when ETCO2 or PaCo2 rises to a clinically significant level.
